Details

The AI-900: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals certification is an entry-level credential designed to validate your foundational understanding of machine learning and AI concepts and related Microsoft Azure services. This exam is ideal for students who are new to AI and want to establish a solid base before pursuing more advanced Azure AI certifications. The certification covers five core areas: Artificial Intelligence, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Computer Vision, Azure NLP and Azure Generative AI. By earning the AI-900, you demonstrate to employers that you understand essential AI principles and can navigate Azure's AI ecosystem with confidence.

The AI-900 certification does not expire. Once earned, it remains valid indefinitely without requiring renewal. This makes it a low-risk, high-value investment in your professional development. The certification serves as a stepping stone toward more advanced certifications, such as AI-103: Azure AI Agents Developer or AI-200: Azure AI Cloud Developer, though it is not a prerequisite for any of them.

The AI-900 Exam

The Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900) exam consists of approximately 40 questions (the exact number varies slightly from one test to another) and you have 60 minutes to complete it. You must achieve a passing score of 700 out of 1000 points to pass.

The exam mixes several question formats to assess your knowledge. You can expect the classic single-answer multiple-choice items, multiple-select questions where two or more options are correct, and drag-and-drop questions. There are also occasional yes/no questions.
