The AI-103: Azure AI Agents Developer Associate certification is an associate-level credential designed to validate your subject matter expertise in building, managing, and deploying AI solutions that leverage Azure AI services. This exam is ideal for students who already have foundational AI knowledge and want to demonstrate their ability to participate in all phases of AI solutions development. The certification covers four core areas: Plan AI Solutions, GenAI & Agentic Solutions, Computer Vision Solutions, NLP Solutions and Info Extraction Solutions. Through this credential, you demonstrate proficiency in working with Azure Cognitive Services, Azure Applied AI services, Azure Cognitive Search, and the Microsoft Bot Framework, using Python as your programming language.
The AI-103 certification expires after one year and must be renewed. You can renew for free by passing an online renewal assessment during the six-month window before your certification expires. If your certification lapses, you must retake and pass the full AI-103 exam to regain it.
The AI-103 serves as a critical stepping stone toward more advanced Azure AI roles and positions you to architect and implement Microsoft AI solutions involving natural language processing, speech, computer vision, conversational AI, and generative AI.
Preparation Materials
The AI-103 Exam
The Azure AI Agents Developer Associate (AI-103) exam consists of approximately 50 questions (the exact number varies slightly from one test to another) and you have 100 minutes to complete it. You must achieve a passing score of 700 out of 1000 points to pass.
The exam mixes several question formats to assess your knowledge. You can expect the classic single-answer multiple-choice items, multiple-select questions where two or more options are correct, and drag-and-drop questions. There are also occasional yes/no questions.
You will also get case-study or scenario-based questions that present business problems requiring you to choose the best solution. And you can expect hands-on lab questions where you must perform specific tasks in a live Azure environment.
