The AZ-204: Developing Solutions for Microsoft Azure certification is an associate-level credential designed to validate your skills in designing, building, testing, and maintaining cloud applications and services on Microsoft Azure. This exam is ideal for students who already have foundational Azure knowledge and want to demonstrate their ability to participate in all phases of cloud development. The certification covers five core areas: developing Azure compute solutions; developing for Azure storage; implementing Azure security; monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing Azure solutions; and connecting to and consuming Azure services and third-party services. Through this credential, you demonstrate proficiency in creating Azure Functions, implementing and managing web apps, working with Azure storage solutions, implementing authentication and authorization, and securing solutions using KeyVault and Managed Identities.
The AZ-204 certification expires after one year and must be renewed. You can renew for free by passing an online renewal assessment during the six-month window before your certification expires. If your certification lapses, you must retake and pass the full AZ-204 exam to regain it, and any dependent certifications (such as Azure DevOps Engineer Expert will also be affected.
The AZ-204 serves as a critical stepping stone toward more advanced Azure roles and certifications, such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
Professional and Business users can set certification goals and track their skill proficiency.
